How to practise

  1. 01

Place a candle at arm's length, the flame level with your eyes.

  2. 02

Sit comfortably and take a few breaths.

  3. 03

Gaze softly at the tip of the wick, blinking as little as comfortable.

  4. 04

After 1–2 minutes, or if the eyes water, close them.

  5. 05

Watch the afterimage in the mind's eye until it fades.

  6. 06

Repeat 2–3 times, then rub the palms and rest them over the eyes.
