The fastest way isn’t always the safest or most efficient way—this is the Kundalini conundrum. On a microcosm level, Kundalini yoga for beginners is a slow progressive practice throughout one’s current life cycle. On the macrocosm scale, it is a light-speeds way of advancing your soul through the larger cycle of reincarnation by resolving all your past and current karma. But, to take things slow, while your ultimate goal is to move fast, can be a challenge.

What is Kundalini?

The unused divine feminine energy (shakti) that when released leads to true enlightenment and emancipation is Kundalini. Represented as a serpent, coiled and in a state of rest at the base of your spine, it waits for the right time to ascend through your 7 chakras up to your third eye and exploding to your crown. It can be a very powerful force as it reveals the true nature of the divine and oneness with all. A kundalini yoga routine can initiate the process by which the serpent moves throughout your body and unwinds itself.

What does Kundalini Feel Like?

There consists several stages of a spiritual awakening, all of which happen organically and seem to occur whether you plan it or not. You become energized to create change in your life—to become more than what you see with your eyes.

Normal routines and relationships may become undesirable—they begin to shed like layers of a snake’s skin. Slowly, you become more aware of how you spend your time and energy—you become more of what you are inside rather than what society has molded you into.

Signs of Kundalini Rising

Once you begin the process of a Kundalini awakening, you will feel physical differences in your body.

  • Increase empathy and heightened sense of emotions
  • Bolts of vibrations and energy may run through you, often when you encounter other high energy humans
  • Senses become overwhelmed easily: lights, noises, and smells
  • Experience extreme joy of simple pleasures
  • Seeing truth more clearly; beyond the BS of society

What are the Benefits of Kundalini Awakening?

According to Yogi Paramahansa Yogananda, an Indian master and guru of Kriya Yoga, the time it takes for a soul to reincarnate itself into liberation can be about a million years.

Kriya yoga, a medium of Kundalini awakening, makes liberation possible within your current life-time. This is due to the acceleration of enlightenment within you.

For many, karma cleansing occurs through individual situations and decisions; once you release Kundalini you already see the right in every situation, and you have nowhere else to ascend.

How to Begin a Kundalini Awakening Process?

The process seems to find you; however, guidance is always needed to stay grounded. Kundalini yoga helps to ignite the process while maintaining a peaceful balance between your old and new life.

There are dangers of a kundalini awakening if not properly tamed. Like I said before, you must be patient with a process that aims to accelerate your enlightenment, so moving too fast can cause damage. You don’t want to rip off the blindfold all at once—the mind will go into shock once it sees past your two physical eyes and with your spiritual third eye.
